Episode 36 - Karina Mora - Season Finale
We made it! Finished another amazing season of Elevating la Cultura podcast! I’m so grateful for each guest, and everyone that has listened! At the end of last season we had 700 downloads, and now we are at over 1350 downloads. Like I’m so so agradecida for all the support, and feedback that keeps me going and sharing our stories.
All of my guests this season have had such an immense amount of wisdom to share. I’ve had time to reflect on my own educational experiences, and I’ve gained a better understanding for how I can reconcile with my past in a way that can shift things for the next generation.
Episode 35 - NoNieqa Ramos
NoNieqa is a Young Adult and Children’s author and is helping educators, parents and youth connect with each other. She is disrupting ideas and narratives that many of us have grown up with and shifting the way we view ourselves and others.
I feel so energized after speaking with NoNieqa and I have a renewed passion to continue having these conversations, because like she said real change will happen as a community.
Episode 34 - Marialuisa Gonzalez
MariaLuisa is a public high school teacher in Chicago with a big heart for her students.
Her positivity and passion for walking alongside high school students is an encouragement. She shared some great wisdom for how we can better understand and connect with high school aged youth so we can help guide them through life.
Episode 33-Brenda Mendoza
Brenda is a leader in the education space with her involvement with several major groups that are striving to make a difference and elevate Latinx educators across the country. She also a bilingual 2nd grade teacher and a Mom.
I’m so proud to know her and all that she is doing to advocate for our next generation of leaders.
Episode 32- Vanessa Mendoza
Vanessa is a certified bilingual and special education pre-k teacher. She pours everything she has into making everyday special for her students and the teachers around her. She shares great information on how to find community and resources for a child with an IEP.
You can tell Vanessa has the biggest heart for her kids and inspires joy in everyone she’s around.
Episode 31-Veronica Herrera-Lopez
Veronica opened the Little Scholars Club, a daycare and learning center dedicated to provide children with a safe and nurturing space where they can learn and develop the social, emotional, academic, and life skills needed for school preparedness.
Her heart and passion for education and pouring into kids with love, is inspiring.
Episode 30-Margarita Moreno
Margarita is co-founder of LatinXChange an amazing community of collaboration and resources for Latinx educators.
She also talks about the importance of shifting the narrative for educators to be treated and compensated like professionals for their time and knowledge.
Episode 29-Analily Morales
Analily is a fifth grade teacher that has shifted her strict approach in the classroom to one that is focused on communication, respect, and trust.
She also talks about the importance of advocating for kids who may be gifted, and searching for good resources to support them in their education.
Episode 28 - Lisset Gonzalez
Vanessa is bringing Montessori education to her community in the Southside of Chicago.
She is currently raising money to open the doors to Casita Montessori to pour back into her community and shift the way we view early childhood education.
Episode 27 - Vanessa Avalos
Vanessa is opening up the first bilingual Spanish Playroom and learning center.
Her passion for making sure we keep the Spanish language alive and pouring into her community is amazing. She shares her whole journey as she builds this new space.
Episode 26 - Carolina Adame
Carolina is a homeschool mom, and inspires me as I homeschool my own kids.
I get so excited to talk with homeschooling parents, but even more so Latine homeschooling parents because we can relate and support each other on a deeper level. Carolina shares wisdom and encouragement for any family thinking about homeschooling their kids.
Episode 25 - Karina Mora: Season 3 Intro
With this season I want to elevate Latinas in the education space because I know education is the foundation for our kids and can really be influential for the rest of their lives. I want to help listeners hear stories and have hope that there are people advocating for our kids, doing all they can for the next generation, and inspiring parents to do the same for their own kids.
