Episode 14 - Raquel Galan
Hola!
I’m excited to introduce our first guest for the second season! I met Raquel Galan in 2019 through a network in Chicago that I work closely with Chicago Latina Moms. We met at a coffee shop, and walked to a nearby park with our kids so that we could chat about life and a potential collaboration. I didn’t realize we would click on so many levels. I loved her enthusiasm, and thoughtfulness when it came to caring about others.
We eventually planned a whole wellness retreat together with another mom Isa, founder of Chicago Latina Moms, which I had on in Season 1 episode 3.
Raquel is a Licensed Clinical professional counselor and I’m thankful that she sat down with me to share her story as an immigrant, and a mom raising bi-cultural kids and to talk about mental health especially in the year 2020. We recorded this episode at the end of last summer 2020, so a little bit ago, but I think everything she shared is still very relatable today.
It was so great to sit down and talk openly about mental health, something that is starting to become more normalized. I love how she shares how it’s never too late to create your own destiny, and really helps us start thinking about how we can make small step toward change by starting within our own home.
